Banking on Learning: Boosting Engagement with Banqer Primary
ln 2024, the introduction of Banqer Primary into our classroom has been a game-changer in fostering student engagement. This innovative financial literacy program provided my students with a real-world context to learn about money management, budgeting, and saving. By simulating a virtual economy, Banqer Primary created an interactive and immersive learning experience that encouraged my students to actively participate in their financial education. One of the key elements that drove engagement in my classroom is the gamified nature of the platform. Students received a digital bank account where they could earn, save, and spend money in a safe, virtual environment. As they engaged with the platform, they also faced challenges such as paying for virtual "bills" or making decisions on saving versus spending, all of which mirror real-life financial responsibilities. What truly sets Banqer Primary apart is its ability to tie financial concepts to students' everyday lives. This made the learning process relatable and practical, which kept the students motivated and excited about developing their financial literacy. Furthermore, the platform allowed for individualised learning, catered to students’ varying levels of understanding and provided opportunities for them to explore the content at their own pace. The integration of Banqer Primary into our classroom has not only enhanced students' understanding of money but also fostered valuable discussions around responsible financial habits. The excitement and active involvement that the program sparked in our students is testament to its effectiveness in creating a dynamic, hands-on learning environment.Mrs Watson – Year 5 Teacher
