Students 'donations' make a real difference with real $$

In connection with our school wide values unit of Kindness this term, I gathered pledges of real NZ cash from staff. My students are aiming to 'donate' $2000 in Banqer dollars, this term and next. Whatever amount they collectively donate, we will donate 10% in real NZ currency up to the $200 pledged. The students will choose items from the TEAR Fund Gift for Life catalogue at the end of Term 3 and we will make our donations count for real. We have a relatively low value class economy ($20 per week income with proportionate expenses) so their contributions are demonstrating their genuine care for others.
